The Listeners by Walter de la Mare reveals to its readers that the place of a man in the universe is only a smaller portion and that there it’s greater than they are and they have little to connect to the natural world. The unknown traveler seen traveling to the abandoned house inhabited by ghosts foretells how a man in the universe has little knowledge of the existence of a wider pool of elements in existence.
